Krisztián Ungváry – historian, university lecturer, researcher on the history of World War II and state security, born in 1969 in Budapest. After graduating, he completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Humanities of Eötvös Loránd University, where he also started teaching. He defended his PhD thesis in 1999. His doctoral dissertation on the siege of Budapest in 1944-45 was published in book form. The work has been published in six Hungarian, four German, two English and two American editions. Since 2000 he has been a research fellow at the 1956 Institute and a subject leader at the doctoral programme of the Eszterházy Károly College in Eger. His latest book, “The Leap from History”, is published by Open Books. Spotlight is a joint series of events organised by Milestone Knowledge Port and Open Books in autumn 2022. The four evenings of the series will feature authors from Open Books, who will be interviewed by a Milestone alumni about their work and their latest books. The collaboration is inspired by the parallels and synergies identified in the work and ambitions of the two organisations
